Every three years, the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) reassigns accreditation to inspection companies authorized to issue certificates of conformity.
At the end of February, this reassignment was finalized and came into effect on March 1. A contract with an existing inspection company can be terminated or extended by TBS for various reasons. Additionally, an inspection company that was previously no longer accredited may be selected again.
Unfortunately, the contract with Bureau Veritas has been terminated. The contract with SGS has been extended; however, due to a revision of the geographical zones within the PVoC Tanzania program, SGS is no longer authorized to issue certificates of conformity for shipments from the US.
In practical terms, this means that the country of export determines which inspection company must be used to request a certificate of conformity. To clarify, here is an example:
- For shipments from Central and Eastern Europe, the application can be processed by SGS or Intertek.
- For shipments from the US, only Intertek is authorized to handle the application
If you request your certificates of conformity through Pincvision and this change affects your shipments, we will, of course, contact you.
