Changes to Tanzania’s Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVOC) Programme

From 14 February 2025, Bureau Veritas will no longer provide Verification of Conformity services for regulated shipments to Tanzania. Here’s what you need to know:

New Requests:

  • Any requests submitted on or after 10 February 2025 will be rejected.

Route A Requests:

  • New requests can be submitted before 10 February 2025, provided the inspection takes place before 13 February 2025. If inspection cannot be completed by this date, requests will be rejected.
  • Pending requests inspected before 13 February 2025 can be finalised and issued before 13 March 2025.

Route B/C Requests:

  • New requests can be submitted before 10 February 2025.
  • Pending requests can be finalised and issued before 13 March 2025.

The contract with the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) is due to expire on 13 February 2025, and it is currently unclear if or when it will be renewed. This means there is only a short window to finalise existing applications. We strongly advise against submitting new applications unless they can be completed before 13 February 2025.

What You Need to Do

To ensure uninterrupted compliance, we highly recommend transferring your current registrations and/or licences to another accredited certification body recognised by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS).
